Who We Are

Our Beliefs
That the Bible is the holy and inspired Word of God.
That God is Father, God is the Son and God is the Holy Spirit (a trinity).
That God the Father is the creator and sustainer of all life who loves His creation
That Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible is the Messiah who is the uncreated,
fully human, fully God, Son of God.
That the Holy Spirit is fully God and fully Spirit who continues the work of
Christ in His physical absence and who is the giver of new life.
That all people sin and have a choice to go to Heaven or Hell
That the only way to enter Heaven is by believing that Jesus Christ is the forgiver
of your sin (Savior) and the king of your life (Lord).
That the Abundant Life is experienced when one denies his/her life of sin
and chooses to be in an ongoing relationship with God.
Our Values
· We value unity within diversity. God likens His church to a body with many parts. Unity is possible because we are many different parts of His body with Christ being the head. Recognizing and appreciating our different gifts, passions, temperaments, and callings harnesses the power of unity in our midst.
· We value sensitivity to the unchurched. Jesus was sensitive to the unchurched and disenchanted of His day. Christ reminded His disciples that He had not come from heaven to call the righteous into His father's family (Matthew 9:10-12). We keep this value in mind at every level of ministry.
· We value community. Jesus organized His followers into small communities to nurture their sense of belonging to God's family and to divide up ministry tasks. When faithfully applied, this community strategy will provide growth, individual care and spiritually energized service in a believer's life. We see our whole ministry through the lens of this strategy.
· We value spiritual balance. Our goal is to build a healthy church by giving appropriate emphasis to these following key areas: worship, fellowship, evangelism, missions, discipleship, prayer, teaching and social concern.
· We value excellence in serving God. Our desire is to bring glory to Christ by doing all we do with excellence. We aim for excellence without extravagance.
· We value partnering with others whenever possible. We understand that our church is only one part of the larger kingdom of God. We believe God has called us reproduce and extend our ministry through partnerships with other like-minded ministries and mission efforts.
· We value Biblical teaching. We believe in teaching and preaching that springs from the only true source, the Bible. We believe that godly leaders are instruments of God’s grace and guidance.
· We value intimacy with one another. We believe ministry happens at the point of intimacy. When you are not only aware of your own personal needs, but the needs of those around you, that is when growth happens. God has called Main Street Baptist to be a church of intimacy, where every person is a minister and no one falls through the cracks.
· We value life-change. We value the life God has given to everyone and the need to show compassion to one another and be passionate about the changes and growth God has planned for us.
· We value authentic worship. We believe that coming together and worshiping God is a wellspring to our daily walks with Christ. We strive to make each worship experience real and relevant through the use of upbeat modern music, creative drama, arts, and video.
Our Purpose
Refine our Minds: Much of who we are shows up in our thinking. Our thoughts are going to be controlled either by our emotions, our circumstances, or our beliefs. 2 Cor. 10:5 says that if we will bring our thoughts to Christ Jesus, then He will refine our thought process.
Refine our Hearts: When gold is refined, it is heated so that impurities, which naturally exist, are brought to the surface and the refiner can scrape them away, leaving everything that is underneath pure. This is what God desires to do in each of our lives - He wants to refine us. Our motives for why we behave the way we do come from what is really in our hearts.
Refine our Spirit: We are eternal souls. Something within a person causes them to look for something more. God created us to have a relationship with Him, and Jesus is the only way to have that relationship with God.

What if I am not a "Christian"?
You are welcome at Main Street regardless of whether you consider yourself a Christian, an atheist, or a carrot for that matter. We figure it this way: Jesus says we should love and serve everyone. We're just crazy enough to believe Him. You are welcome. You are loved. You will belong.
What are the worship services Like?
All of our worship services strive to be heartfelt expressions of those in attendance. Some parts of the service may seem profound or powerful, while other moments are more like sharing and laughing around a campfire. We believe that the God who created us is honored when we imitate Him, so we use creative arts (music, dance, drama, media, story telling, etc.) to express our love for Him and to re-tell the story of how much He loves us. Our pastors share a timeless message of hope and encouragement for all people looking for meaning in their lives.
What are some of the characteristics of Main Street?
We strive to:
- be welcoming of seekers
- be mission oriented
- be culturally aware and technologically savvy
- be obsessed with the wonder, awe, and love of God
- be able to offer a highly engaging worship and learning experience
- be especially concerned with how a Biblically orthodox faith in Christ is lived out in the daily context of relationships, work, leisure, and community life.
What should I wear?
Let's start by saying that Main Street is not about "should-ing" on people (like you should wear a tie or you shouldn't wear shorts). As long as you're wearing something, you'll be good to go - although you may want to check the weather. Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable when meeting a variety of people and encountering the awesome God of all creation. God is not impressed by fancy clothes unless they help you feel closer to Him
What makes Main Street different from any other church?
At Main Street Baptist Church, we specifically seek to re-connect Christianity with the deep, God-given human desire to experience life's inherent mysteries of beauty, romance, and wonder. We desire to recover long-discarded ancient elements of Christian worship and infuses them with new energy and revived meaning to respond to this need in our current culture. We fuse various traditional and contemporary elements together with a focus on actually experiencing God in worship as compared to receiving information about God. We value genuineness over hype, orthodoxy over fad, community over individualism, asking hard questions over blind faith, "we don't know" over "we've got ALL the answers," permission over control, relationships over institutions, and passion over duty. Here at Main Street, we are striving to be the church God wants us to be so that we can best glorify Him and serve our community.
